The Grapes of Wrath question 6

Why do we still read this book? This is a very good question, and what do you mean by we? I read this book because it was required, which is more than I can say for most. Thats not to say I didn't like it, for it was eighty three percent more entertaining than the one about the fish, and sixty six percent more interesting. While these completely accurate statistics, which are completely accurate, may be misleading, which leads me to simplify it by saying it was better than the Old man and the Sea. Anyways, the average book expert reader person would read this book because of its amazing story and Steinbeck probably wrote some other books that people liked enough to want to read his next one, which did not disappoint. As with every book I'm supposed to read this book has a timeless message and characters. The timeless message here is pretty much that the dust bowl was bad, cops are evil, and old people and pets always die first. The characters that didn't abandon the family due to various reasons, such as wanting to be one with nature, no reason at all, and being a fugitive, thus causing problems for the family if said person were to stay, were all decent people. While the ones who abandoned the family for previously stated reasons were not. What can we learn from this novel? Good question, we can learn about how the dust bowl was a bad thing, and if it were to happen again don't go and live in California. In a more serious note, we can learn to stay with our families in a time of crisis, and you will always be properly fed in jail. That was completely serious, think about it. This is more of a novel that teaches you to be aware of our not so great moments in history so we can probably prevent it from happening again. Will it work, the answer is maybe. Mainly because it probably won't happen again due to farmers being more educated about such things.
